Pranayama: The Science of Breath

Pranayama means “extension of prana”, the vital life-force carried by the breath. Through regulated inhalation, exhalation and retention, pranayama steadies the nervous system, improves lung capacity and digestion, and prepares the mind for meditation. Practised regularly under guidance, it is one of the most powerful tools in yoga for health and inner calm.
